Did you know that people spend more money on Halloween than on any other holiday throughout the year except for Christmas? This year Halloween is different for my family b/c we have a little girl. Of course she's too little to understand what is going on, but we are excited as parents anyway. I've also heard that annual discussion about whether Christians can or should participate in Halloween. I don't see why not. Now, when we had our "Trunk or Treat" at our church we asked for nothing scary or gruesome b/c we didn't want to scare the kids, but I think Halloween can be done in a fun and family friendly way. There is actually a Christian rememberance as part of Halloween. Halloween used to be called "All Hallows Eve." The Sunday immediately following Halloween is "All Saints Sunday" where the church celebrates all the "saints" that have already passed away. By "saints" we mean any Christian we have known, not just the big named Saints.
